FAQs

  • Individual Psychotherapy 🧠

I offer long-term psychotherapy and meet with clients on a weekly basis. The option to engage in longer and more frequent sessions is also available to discuss one-on-one. No one person is the same and thus, my approach to psychotherapy is unique and caters to these individual differences. We will work together to determine what is best for your ongoing treatment.

    Couples Psychotherapy 💌

I offer short-term and long-term treatment options for couples aiming to address conflicts and shifts within an established bond. As we collaborate and build rapport, we will be intentional about determining a frequency of meeting and duration of session that works best to meet your relationship goals.

    Group Psychotherapy 🤝

I offer a support group for BIPOC adults who desire open interactions and discussions with others who hold shared identities. Through the use of creative, thought-provoking activities and prompts over the course of a 75-minute group session, you will be able to engage with other group members to address challenges you are facing. This is an 8-week group that requires enrollment prior to the first group session.

  • At this time, I have chosen not to participate with any health insurance plans due to my belief that your treatment should be determined by you and I and our ongoing therapeutic relationship rather than influenced by the treatment guidelines of a privatized insurance company. Due to this, I strongly encourage you to look into your insurance plan's benefits to determine your eligibility to receive partial or full reimbursement for mental health services.

If you would like to use your insurance benefits, I would be considered an out-of-network provider such that payment for our session is due at the time of our session and collected directly by me. Following that, you may receive reimbursement from your insurance provider for these session payments, and many do have success with this upon meeting an out-of-network deductible amount. I will provide you with the documentation you need to request out-of-network reimbursement with your insurance provider. I will also provide you with a Goodness of Faith Estimate that outlines the estimated costs associated with the work we are doing together.

It can be helpful to contact your insurance provider and share the following information:

“I’m planning to see a therapist who does not take my insurance. Would I be eligible for reimbursement for these sessions through any out-of-network benefits?”

If yes, ask the following questions:

    1. What mental health benefits does my plan offer?

    2. Do I have out-of-network coverage?

    3. How much is my out-of-network deductible and how much of that deductible have I already met?

    4. After meeting my deductible, what percentage of my session fees will you pay?

    5. What is the allowed amount for mental health coverage?

    6. Where can I find the out-of-network claim form?

    7. Where do I send the claim form when I complete it?

  • That’s a great question as costs for psychotherapy services can vary. My fee is in line with other psychotherapists in the DMV and surrounding areas with commensurate training and experience. I offer a limited number of sliding scale options for those in need of a reduced fee in an effort to make long-term psychotherapy accessible to all. I believe it’s important to discuss fees throughout the course of treatment and as needs change in order to arrive at an arrangement that works on both ends and that can sustain our important work together. I'm happy to discuss questions and thoughts about my fee in our initial consultation and in ongoing communication with one another.

  • I am a fee-for-service provider and accept out of pocket payments directly via personal check, Zelle, Venmo, cash, and HSA/FSA cards along with other debit and credit cards as forms of payment. Payment for services is due at the time of our session. If you are unable to attend a session, please make sure you cancel at least 48 hours beforehand. Otherwise, you will be charged a late cancellation fee.

  • At this time, I am practicing in a hybrid format, offering virtual therapy sessions through a HIPAA-compliant platform and seeing clients in person three days a week. In person availability is limited at this time. I will keep all clients informed of any changes to policies.
